Trip overview
- Day 1: Cusco – Qesiuno – Alqatarwi. The day begins with a drive from Cusco through the Vilcanota Valley to the trailhead at Qesiuno. From there, you will hike to the high-altitude campsite at Alqatarwi for the overnight stay.
- Day 2: Alqatarwi – Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) – Cusco. An early morning hike takes you to the highest point, the Vinicunca pass, for sunrise views. After visiting Rainbow Mountain, you will descend and return to Cusco by vehicle.
Itinerary
CUSCO/QESIUNO/ALQATARWI.
we leave Cusco early morning, adjust to its altitude by exploring through the Vilcanota Valley and small villages, colonial church, and its small inca site, a short drive from here takes us the beginning of the trek Qesiuno (), where we manned by Quechua-speaking Inca descendants, after a short break and a snack. Our hike continued through small lagoons and our lunch spot, from here we continue on to our camping and overnight in ALQATARWI (). We set off to explore the area for a while

AUSANGATE RAINBOW MOUNTAIN PERU TREK/CUSCO.
This is the challenging day but the most rewarding of the hike, rise early on the final morning and see the sunrise, spend the day exploring this huge and new landscape. A 3hr hike takes us to the highest pass of the trek, Vinicunca, The Rainbow Mountain (approx ), with imposing views over the AUSANGATE range, raising over the horizon, enjoy this magic and spiritual mountains just in front of you. a gift of the Pacha Mama (mother earth). From here our road easier hiking down, we head to Qesiuno then to Cusco.

Prices
Rainbow Mountain 2-Day Trek
This 2-day trek costs $297 USD per person and can be scheduled on any date, provided we have a minimum of two hikers.
The price includes a personal pack horse to carry your belongings (up to 7 kg), for which we’ll provide a duffel bag. We also include a large Eureka 4-person tent for every two trekkers.
